With a limited colour palette of Cadmium Red, Pthalo Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Yellow & Titanium White, I have recreated this peaceful, lazy outing on a boat on a warm summer afternoon at Giverny, France. The technique used is scumbling, impasto and clean brush strokes. Monet has begun to use some impressionist style here, giving more importance to the atmosphere between him and the subject, more than the subject itself.
