Ada Lovelace (1815 - 1852)
Original artwork by CLEMENCE POWNEY
This painting depicts Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, better known as Ada Lovelace, was an English mathematician and writer who is widely considered to be the world's first computer programmer. Her historical garment is contrasted by modern typography, with one of her iconic quotes. Intertwined in the depiction of her clothes are authentic magazine cuttings from the late 1900 s. Lovelace's contributions to the development of computing were groundbreaking and far reaching. She predicted that computers could be used to create music, produce graphics, and even compose original works of literature.
