With a limited colour palette of Cadmium Red, Pthalo Blue, Cobalt Blue, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Yellow & Titanium White, a scene from a countryside in France has been rendered with dabs and impasto strokes in an impressionist style. I believe, Monet painted this scene in a single, with a feverish intent to get the mood and atmosphere of this cheerful moment captured on canvas. The strokes are loosely applied, leaving much of the ground colour peeping, thus unifying the entire composition.
