My journey in art field began as a “Graphic Designer” with an advertising agency. I started thinking about sensitivity and intent of the paintings… I have studied in Indology, about the history and cultures, languages, and literature of the Indian subcontinent...the blend of Indian culture & History indirectly flowed in my paintings. Sensitive and full of colour, my paintings are a reflection of my mind. I paint religious stories, decorative motifs, symbols etc. in my own way.
The medieval temples of India feature a female figure in the sculpture strategy. That is called "Sursundari". The celestial female is a ubiquitous motif in the visual arts & architecture of India & those artistic traditions. I want to show that Sursundari through my paintings. She reminds me of our ancient Art & the culture of Harappa civilization, the world's most ancient civilization.
It is widely accepted that the Harappan people worshipped a Mother Goddess. The Recovery of a large number of Mother Goddess figurines, suggests that Mother Goddess worship or the fertility cult was widespread and popular in the civilization. Terracotta, steatite and metal figurines of girls in dancing poses, recovered from Indus valley excavations show the presence of some dance form as well as skilled craftsmanship. The most interesting and famous figurines are the bronze Dancing Girl, the steatite Bearded Priest-King and the terracotta Wheel Cart etc.
The blend of Indian culture constitutes the subjects of my paintings. This is my own way of showing the fusion of our Ancient culture & Art.
